CardioID Technologies is a spin-off of Instituto Superior Técnico (University of Lisbon), born out of research on pattern recognition and machine learning methods applied to the study of biosignals.
Of the various context-based applications of the electrocardiogram research, CardioID has selected the automotive industry as strategic, developing innovative products that take us closer to a non-intrusive and comprehensive driver monitoring reality and robust Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS).
CardioID recurrently joins efforts in national and international partnerships, taking part in collaborative current projects such as the i-DREAMS, VALU3S, Mobi, AUTOMOTIVE, and, among many others, the CardioLeather project.

Couro Azul is the most modern industrial tanning unit in Portugal.
Essentially dedicated to the automotive and aeronautical sectors, and heir to the know-how of the former Grupo Carvalhos – Curtumes do Lys -, Couro Azul was specifically designed for the transformation of whole bovine hides. Its specialization in the automotive sector is the result of a continuous technological and commercial effort, and an investment in facilities, equipment, technology, and quality.
Couro Azul intends to develop its business sustainably through new, more demanding, and large-capacity markets. To achieve this objective, the company elected two priorities – Quality and Innovation – as dynamic factors for the valorization of its products.

Centro Tecnológico das Indústrias do Couro is an entity of the Sistema Cientifico e Tecnológico Nacional (National Scientific and Technological System), created in 1994 to provide technical support to the leather industries so that they become progressively more competitive.
CTIC’s main motivations are the following:
-
- To support sustained growth in the tanning sector;
- To support research and innovation in this sector;
- To support the implementation of industrial policies that improve the competitiveness of companies;
- To promote the qualification of the staff and managers of the companies and the insertion of new technicians;
- To promote a good external appearance of the tanneries sector;
- To contribute to the improvement of working conditions in tanneries;
- To act in areas related to product engineering.

Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) is a faculty of Universidade de Lisboa that was a pioneer in Portugal in the protection of intellectual property as a way of enhancing its appreciation, being the Portuguese entity with the highest number of registered patents.
The recognition of the quality of the IST research centers is also evidenced by the number of studies commissioned by the Portuguese government on subjects as diverse as transport, geophysics, civil construction, information technologies, among others. It has 29 Centers and Institutes, 7 Associate Laboratories, 1302 Doctorates, 1828 Scientific Publications (ISI Web of Science), and 9 patent applications in progress.
It participates in several international networks and mobility programs.

Universidade de Aveiro integrates groups specialized in conductive materials and flexible and transparent sensors, textile electronics, organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, and polymer technology.
Its associated laboratory CICECO is a national reference in materials research, and its research center is fully equipped to meet the needs of advanced characterization, technological development, and engineering.
